International pressure is growing for a full and independent investigation into the circumstances that led to the deaths of dozens of Palestinians seeking aid from a convoy in northern Gaza.

The Foreign Ministers of Germany and France have demanded a full explanation of what happened in Gaza city early on Thursday morning.

According to the Hamas-run Health Ministry, at least 112 Palestinians were killed, and 760 others wounded in an Israeli attack as they were waiting for aid.

An Israeli military spokesman said the troops fired in self-defence after Gazans stormed and sacked the aid trucks.

Meanwhile, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the incident, and reiterated his call for an instant humanitarian cease-fire and the total release of all hostages.

On Friday, Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned the aid truck incident in Gaza, describing a barbaric and brutal act that disregarded human lives.

On Thursday, it was announced that 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza had died from Israeli attacks amid deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
