Sunday, 24 September 2023, marked the 109th World Day of Migrants and Refugees. In Churches around the world, communities of the faithful gathered to experience this moment of prayer and communion together with their brother and sister migrants.

Many people sent the Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development photos and testimonies of how they celebrated this day.

The Dicastery also received numerous replies to the questions it had posed during its campaign, entitled: "Free to choose whether to migrate or to stay". Some of them have been collected in the above video.

In his Angelus on the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis recalled how it is "necessary that every man and woman be guaranteed the possibility of living a life of dignity, in the society in which he or she finds himself or herself", so let us commit ourselves to building "communities ready and open to welcome, promote, accompany and integrate those who knock on our doors".
