Pope Francis arrives at Rome's Ciampino Airport after Apostolic Journey
Pope has returned to Rome following his Apostolic Visit to Chile and Peru - and journeyed immediately to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major for a prayer of thanksgiving before the Icon of Our Lady, Salus Populi Romani.
Pope Francis arrived in Rome, following his week-long Visit to Chile and Peru. The plane, which took off from Lima last night, landed at Rome's Ciampino airport this afternoon around 2.15. Immediately upon his arrival, the Holy Father made his was to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major to pray before the image of Our Lady, Salus Populi Romani, in thanksgiving for a successful journey. The news was confirmed in a tweet from the director of the Holy See Press Office, Greg Burke.
