Online course on women and synodality launched

The World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations (WUCWO) launches a new series of webinars on "The mission of women in the synodal Church".

Vatican News

On February 27th, the World Union of Catholic Women's Organizations will launch its School of Synodality, with the theme The mission of women in the synodal Church.

This is a new initiative organised by WUCWO, through its World Observatory of Women (WOW).

A series of webinars

The project - according to a press release from the organisation - will start with a series of webinars from February 27th to 29th, in Spanish, English, and French.

The topic will be the progress of the synodal process and the fundamental contents of Chapter 9 of the Synthesis Report in the first session of the Synodal Assembly: "Women in the life and mission of the Church".

It will also promote the application of synodal methodology in the Church, with particular attention to the full participation of women.

Speakers from the October Assembly

In each of these meetings, there will be two speakers who participated in the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in October 2023: one lay representative and one religious.

The speakers will be as follows: two religious chosen by Pope Francis as delegate presidents for the synodal Assembly, Momoko Nishimura from Japan and Maria Dolores Palencia from Mexico; Mozambican journalist Sheila Pires; UISG religious Maria Cimperman from the United States; philosopher Anne-Béatrice Faye from Senegal; Australian professor Susan Pascoe; and laywomen Eva Fernandez from Spain and Sandra Chaoul from Lebanon.
