US President Donald Trump says he will deliver a forceful response to the alleged chemical attack in which medical sources claim dozens were killed by barrel bombs containing a lethal substance.

Trump said: "We have a lot of options militarily."

Meanwhile, Nikki Haley, the U.S. Ambassador to UN, confirmed the United States would take action saying: “We are beyond showing pictures of dead babies. We are beyond appeals to conscience. We have reached the moment when the world must see justice done.”

According to reports, President Donald Trump is meeting with his national security team and will make a decision on the issue later.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said specialists had visited the area of the alleged attack and did not find any trace of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians.

The allegations are also denied by the Syrian government.

Separately, the United Nations says more than 130,000 people were estimated to have fled the Eastern Ghouta region during the last month.
