Pope names new Bishop of Crookston, USA

Bishop Andrew Harmon Cozzens is the new bishop of the diocese of Crookston, Minnesota, USA.

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Andrew Harmon Cozzens as the new bishop of the Diocese of Crookston, USA. Until now, Bishop Cozzens was the titular of Bisica and auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Curriculum Vitae

Born on 3 August, 1968 in Stamford, Connecticut, Diocese of Bridgeport, Bishop Cozzens attended the Benedictine College is Atchison, Kansas, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Philosophy (1991).

In 1993, he was admitted into the Saint Paul Seminary where he carried out his studies in Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 31 May 1997.

Subsequently, he obtained a Licentiate (2002) and a Doctorate (2008) in Dogmatic Theology from the Pontifical Saint Thomas Aquinas University in Rome.

He has served as parish vicar of Saint Paul’s Cathedral in Saint Paul (1997-2000) and of the Sacred Heart-Saint Lawrence-Immaculate Conception parish in Faribault (2000-2002); assistant director of the archdiocesan worship office (2008-2010); assistant professor, formator and director of worship at the Saint Paul Seminary in Saint Paul (2006-2013). He also was a founder member of the diocesan Priestly Association Companions of Christ (since 1992).

He was appointed as titular bishop of Bisica and auxiliary of Saint Paul and Minneapolis on 11 October 2013, and he received episcopal consecration on 9 December 2013.
