Conference: “The milestones of the Integral ecology for a human Economy”

A two-week long International Conference organised by the Institution “Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice” kicks off on Friday on the theme "The milestones of the Integral ecology for a human Economy".

The conference, entitled “The milestones of the Integral ecology for a human Economy”  kicks off on Friday 23 October with a video message from the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin and consists in two online meetings one week apart. The first, on Friday 23 October will focus on "Governance and Business models", while the second on Friday 30 October will focus on "Education and Training".

The programme foresees an introduction by Anna Maria Tarantola, the President of the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation, as well as by Professor Giovanni Marseguerra, coordinator of the Foundation's Scientific Committee.

The Institution “Centesimus Annus – Pro Pontifice” owes its name and birth to the Encyclical “Centesimus Annus” published by Pope John Paul II in 1991. According to their website, the Insitution’s idea and purpose is “heartfelt endorsement of papal social teachings and committed support to the Holy Father’s charitable initiatives”.

The Institution of religion and cult, established by His Holiness John Paul II on June 5th, 1993, is incorporated in the State of Vatican City and governed in accordance with the Church’s Canon Law, the Civil Law of Vatican City and its By-Laws

The Foundation, Centesiumus Annus Pro Pontifice is a non profit corporation with purposes of religion and charity. Its specific goal is to help promote the study and diffusion of the social doctrine of the Catholic Church as set out in particular by Pope John Paul II’s Encyclical “Centesimus Annus”.

Immediately after Cardinal Parolin’s video message is played, calling for a moment of prayer, speeches will follow by authoritative speakers of international level introduced and moderated by Dawn R. Elm, Professor of Business Ethics & Management, at St. Thomas University, Minnesota.

Likewise in the second meeting, the opening speech will be followed by His Eminence Cardinal Peter Turkson, Prefect of the Dicastery for Integral Human Development, and then by numerous speakers in the finance and economics sectors.

The work will be concluded by Bishop Nunzio Galantino, President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See

Simultaneous translation into English, Italian, French and Spanish will be available to facilitate the widest possible participation. The event is completely free.
