The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is holding a two-day virtual conference on August 4 and 5 to help local parishes and schools make the most of modern technology in the work of evangelization.

“The current pandemic has revealed that we must be ready to address unprecedented situations and challenges in the future,” reads the announcement of the event. It invites those involved in Catholic ministry and education to share their experiences, especially in light of recent events, and offers an opportunity to “learn, experience, and grow” professional skills.

The conference is aimed at preparing participants with “the knowledge and skills to be ready for the upcoming academic and ministry year,” with all the challenges they are facing.

The first day of the conference is focused on the theme “Listen, Share, Network, and Learn”, and includes “breakout sessions for parish, school staff and volunteers, organized by topic/subject, grade level, and by parish and school programs.” Day two “will highlight the good things people are doing across the Archdiocese to facilitate teaching, learning, and ministry during these uncertain and disruptive times”, on the theme “Listen, Learn, Grow.”

The Catholic Communication Collaboration (C3) began as a pilot program in 2010 to make use of broadband communications connectivity, to allow the various entities within the Archdiocese to make effective use of new technology. “C3 projects and programs continue to be reviewed, adjusted or adapted through discussion by the Archdiocesan working group as it was in the pilot program in 2010,” according to the Archdiocese.
