Southern African Catholic Bishops to unveil new Pastoral Plan

Bishop Sithembele Sipuka of Mthatha Diocese, who is also President of the Southern African Catholic Bishops’ Conference (SACBC), has announced that the Bishops’ Conference will, on 26 January 2020, unveil a New Pastoral Plan at Regina Mundi Catholic Church in Soweto.

English Africa Service – Vatican News.

“Since1989 our pastoral plan in the region of SACBC has been guiding us under the theme: Community Serving Humanity. (So far) this Pastoral Plan has been very successful in catering to the needs of our people in the region.  Upon reflection, Bishops, together with the people of God, have become aware of the changed situations and the need to respond to those needs differently and effectively, ” Bishop Sipuka explained.

An Evangelising Community serving God, humanity and creation

The new Pastoral Plan will have as a theme: Evangelising Community Serving God, Humanity and All Creation.

According to Bishop Sipuka, it is important that the faithful attend the launch as a way of witnessing to what the Catholic faith was all about –namely, a Church whose faith responds to the needs of the time.

Republican President invited to the launch

Also invited to the launch is Republican President of South Afric, Cyril Ramaphosa. Bishops of South Africa, Botswana and eSwatini, as members of SACBC, are expected to be in attendance.
