Pope’s call for a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Congo and South Sudan on Feb 23.

After the Sunday Angelus on Feb 4, Pope Francis had appealed for prayer and fasting on the first Friday of Lent for peace in the war-torn nations, in particular for the Democratic Republic of Congo and for South Sudan that are suffering conflict, and invited all men and women, regardless of their religious denomination to join this initiative. This is the second time, the pope asked for special prayer for the nations. In November, he organized a prayer ceremony them in the Vatican.
